Bogota, Colombia. 2013
The Bronx, an area centered on the intersection of two streets in Bogotá, Colombia is the hub of its most brazen drug market, since “El Cartucho” – formerly the biggest drug market in the city – was eradicated. Gangs, some with links with paramilitary groups, control the area. The Bronx is an ocean of misery, poverty and addiction, trapping thousands of people unable to find their way out. The authorities decided to take on the gangs, to assist those living on the streets and help this neighborhood recover. The city of Bogotá has implemented a rehabilitation program for drug users, offering controlled doses to those who agree to be treated.
