Thailand, Malaysia. July 2014
The train from the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur to Thai capital Bangkok is the most cost-effective way to travel between these two Asian neighbors. The train follows the long thin peninsula that stretches from Malaysia up into Southeast Asia, skirting Myanmar. The journey takes more than 30 hours. The second-class sleeper couches are comfortable, with a dining car and other amenities. The third-class passengers travel in a far more rudimentary fashion for the 1,473 kilometer journey. Either way, it is great way to travel.
