How We Live: Life on the Margins in Armenia

Sara Anjargolian

Armenia. 2009

The World Bank estimated that the proportion of people in Armenia living below the official poverty line reached 35 percent in 2011. This project, produced in collaboration with the James Tufenkian Foundation in New York, documents the face of poverty in Armenia as told through the personal stories of nine families living along society’s margins. It is a study of lives in upheaval and a chronicle of families prevailing against inhuman odds, yet simultaneously making peace with what should be unacceptable.
