Milenka Jevic offers a morning home brewed brandy to Petar Mihailovic, leader of the Serbian returnee committee and an elected local politician. This completely Serb mountain village was handed from Serb control to the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1996. The residents departed for the then-Serb controlled town of Foca. They took their doors and windows with them, and in many cases the roof tiles. The remaining roof tiles were stolen and the weather has destroyed most of the houses. War never directly touched this place, yet fear and hatred have destroyed a community just as thoroughly as if it had. Republika Srpska, Mrvljaca, Bosnia and Herzegovina. April 2012.
