Christina, 6, waits for lunch. Her mother Armineh stopped sending Christina to school so that Christina would stay home to care for her younger sister while Armineh searched for work. Previously, the family lived in a barn. What little money Armineh had scraped together cleaning neighbors’ toilets was not enough to avoid eviction from the barn.
