Uganda Anti-Homosexuality Bill

Ugandan Pastor Martin Ssempa warns press against what he calls the danger of homosexuality at a press conference in Kampala, 2010. He made news for planning a “million man march” in Uganda in support of the anti-homosexuality bill. There is public support for the bill and despite the Ugandan government’s concern at international pressure and outrage, the president passed a bill in 2014 that further criminalized homosexuality in the country, including adding life in prison and death sentences to the punishments. The constituional court disallowed the law. Bènèdicte Desrus/The Stand
